Shibuya Sky opens a midnight observation deck

For years the city's best rooftop closed just as Tokyo got interesting. That changes this summer: Shibuya Sky now holds its open-air deck until 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays, 230 metres above the world's busiest crossing.

Go for the last entry slot. The daytime crowds are gone, the wind picks up, and the entire Kanto grid burns below you β€” Shinjuku's towers to the north, the slow red pulse of Tokyo Tower to the east.

Tickets are timed and sell out on clear nights. Book online, bring a jacket, and leave the tripod at home β€” the deck bans them, and the handrail is steady enough for a long exposure anyway.
